Pet Memorial

Milo

I think we are ready to tell you Milo’s story…

We got him as a puppy in Dec of 2019 and he was the light of our lives. He gave us so much joy and instantly was one of the family. When he was about 2, he went lame in his hind end one day and felI over. We immediately took him to the Emergency Vet, and they referred us to Guelph.
We drove there right away and they told us the possibilities it could be, at that time we opted for the meds and crate rest. Milo bounced back pretty quickly. Nine months later it happened again and we did the meds and rest and again Milo bounced back. Only a few months later Milo bit a skunk on the bum, got sprayed of course and we think it may have been the way he wrenched around from that that caused episode 3. This time he was crying all the time, we rushed him to Guelph and had the MRI, where they told us it was definitely IVDD. We opted for the surgery, sadly after recovery, he did not regain his legs or bodily functions. He was only 3 years old. We decided to give him the best life we could and changed orn whole lives to assisting him and loving him even more. He was such a beautiful little soul, so full of life and love. He adapted so quickly, I don’t think he knew his legs didn’t work. We took him everywhere with us, he wasn’t so keen on his wheelchair so we got him a pet stroller so he could still enjoy his “walks”. He loved his stroller walks. Kevin came up with an idea for a carrying case as well. We purchased a log carrier and put one of his beds in it and Milo would get right in and we could carry him up and down the stairs and to and from the car.
We miss him so much and his adorable little face, we seem a little lost, our whole daily routine was wrapped around him. We are working through each day and trying to find a new normal for us. The tears still come every day,but we know in our hearts we made the right decision with only Milo’s best interest at heart. He was our pride and joy and loved him with everything we had. We know in time the heartache will be replaced with happy memories of him.

Thank you both for being so kind and caring and reassuring to us. It was the hardest decision we ever had to make and what made it harder was Milo was only 5 years old, but you helped us through that. We appreciate what you do and how you conduct yourselves and your business is exemplary. All pets should be treated with respect and dignity, and you gave us all of that.

Thank you and sincerely,
Lisa and Kevin Koabel
