Syd

He loved love and provided it unconditionally. He always comforted us when we needed it and got us through so many ups and downs, highlighting his compassionate and affectionate nature. He lived life to the fullest….his favourite thing to do was eat fresh cherry tomatoes, enjoy a good bowl of pasta and sauce, steal pizza whenever he could, and listen to Italian shows on TV. We always said Syd must have been a sassy, old Italian man in a past life. Never one to refuse a car-car ride, give a high five, show off his new sweater, or grab a towel or sock to chew on – he knew what he wanted and did it with confidence.

We miss his watchful eye in the kitchen and his supervising our daily household tasks. Most of our memories of Syd are joyful and make us laugh, yet he fought hard to overcome his autoimmune disease and spinal injury at 13, never giving up. Even when old age slowed him down and doggy dementia (CCD) set in, his fearlessness and trust in us was always present. It was an absolute privilege to know and love him for 16 years. Those who knew Syd knew he was larger than life. He was a legend. He was a good boy. He was: The Baby Syd.
