Bosco

May 5, 2007 – January 6, 2022

Bosco came to us as a foster dog from a rural shelter in Adams County, Ohio. He was pulled from the shelter and brought to Canada by my friends, James and Dawn. He was about four months old when we met him, scared and full of mange. Of course, after meeting him, we had no intention of giving him back.

We named him “Bosco” after Maurice Louis Boscorelli from a TV show called Third Watch. The character was tough, confident, and badass. We thought this dog needed a little confidence and a little badass.

I started agility with him as a way to help with his confidence. Bosco was well known at agility trials for his antics of not giving a crap about agility

He did agility because I asked him to and he loved me, and I always knew that. Despite not giving a crap, he was an accomplished agility dog and gained many titles and placed many times at the regional level.

Bosco was a nervous dog by nature due to his sad beginning. The funny thing was, though, that even though he was a nervous dog, he would do anything for me. He had more trust in me than any of my other dogs have ever had. It was like he knew that I would not put him into any danger and I would never let him get hurt. I cherished this trust he had in me.

Bossy was a gentle soul who got along with every dog and every person. His real talent was being the greatest food stealer of all time. More than once, my hand went down his throat to retrieve pizza slices that he would attempt to swallow whole when he saw me coming. He loved to roll in the grass, and he loved to chase squirrels.

I have been told more than once that Bosco could do no wrong in my eyes and that he was my favourite. Although I love all my dogs very much, I do think there was a lot of truth to that.

I called him my comfortable pair of slippers. He was such a comfort when I came home and he hopped onto the couch with me. He was always with me.

I miss him dearly and wish that the strength of how much I loved him could have kept him with me forever.

I am thankful for my dear friends and veterinarians, Shannan and Gary, for their love and care for Bosco over his life.

I am thankful for my agility coach, Sandy, for using outside-the-box training and ideas to give Bosco courage and success.

I am thankful for Emma (RIP) the Cattle Dog for being his special girlfriend and getting him fast and frisky for his agility trials.

I am thankful for Dr. Monique Goonraj and Dr. Ronderson Ramjattan from Hamilton-Niagara Veterinary Mobile Euthanasia Services for allowing us to help Bosco over the Rainbow Bridge in the comfort of his home with his loving family around him and for rearranging their appointments so they could fit him in a day earlier.

….and I am most thankful for my dear friends James and Dawn for saving his life.
I know in my heart, Monsey-man, that we will be together again one day.
Run free with your besties, Morgan, Brodie, and of course, Finn.
We love you Bossy.
