Pet Memorial
Finn
December 17, 2009 – December 21, 2021
Eleven years ago, I reached out to my friends Cindy and Chris at Border Collie Rescue. Finn was one of the dogs they showed me. Back then, he was known as BCRO’s “Tearing Up The Turf” or “Turf” for short. Cindy and Chris had taken him and another dog from a sad situation on Manitoulin Island.
Finn came with a special sweetness that he offered to everyone he met. Finn loved people. His main goal in life was to stay close to me and rush to “help” wherever he could. Whether herding children or disciplining the other dogs or the cat, he was the policeman of the house. His help was not always “needed,” but he was there. He always did everything at 110%, and his dedication to me never wavered.
When I adopted him at a year old, I started training him for agility. We trained for a year before competing, and what an agility dog he was! Finn quickly jumped from Starters to Advanced to Master Agility Dog. In 12 short months, he was awarded his ATChC (Agility Trial Champion of Canada). He was an accomplished Gambling dog and often a 4 7s Snooker dog. We competed all over Ontario and at the Canadian Nationals in New Brunswick. He loved the game, but most of all, he loved working with me and, of course, loved to visit with his agility family. He was the best teammate I could’ve ever asked for. He was perfect in so many ways, but most of all, his loving nature was second to none. He loved his hikes with the kids at home, and he loved his naps on the couch. He loved our camping trips, trips to the cottage — anywhere really as long as he was with his family.
We will be forever thankful to our good friends and Veterinarians Shannan and Gary Noorlander at Animal Hospital of North Fergus for their unwavering dedication to Finn’s comfort and happiness and their guidance. We are thankful to Dr. Meredith Gautier and her Oncology Team at MOVEH for giving us another year with our Finn.
Lastly, we are thankful to Dr. Monique Goonraj and Dr. Ronderson Ramjattan from Hamilton-Niagara Veterinary Mobile Home Euthanasia Services for helping Finn make his transition over the bridge surrounded by his loving family in his home eating chicken, hotdogs, waffles, and pizza.
RIP, Finn. I feel it in my heart that we will be together again someday. Run pain-free over the bridge, and don’t give Morgan any trouble.
