Jaxon
In Loving Memory of Jaxon Phillip Hunter
(2012–2024)
Jaxon Phillip Hunter, affectionately known as Jax or Jax-man, was laid to rest peacefully on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, just weeks shy of his twelfth birthday. Jaxon had a rocky start to life, having been returned as a rescue twice in as many months. Wild and full of energy, he was a handful, but that’s exactly what made him the perfect pup for the Hunter family. It took time, patience, and love for the family to earn his trust, but once they did, Jaxon became their steadfast companion and protector. His long and bountiful life was filled with friendships, car rides, naps in the sun, chasing critters, and plenty of treats. He also had a cherished collection of “babies”—stuffed critters he carried proudly, most recently Tony the Tiger, who he’d lovingly show off to his family when he was in a sharing mood. Jaxon was known for his signature “Jax’s face,” a severe underbite that showcased his bottom teeth—a look truly unique to him and one that his family adored. Though it might have been “a face only a mother could love,” to those who knew him, he was the most handsome boy in the world.Ever loyal to his family, Jaxon was wary of strangers but fiercely loving to those in his circle. His playful rivalry with Nessie, the family cat, brought endless joy and laughter. Nessie loved to torment him with teasing swats to his butt, and though Jaxon was never fast enough to catch her, the antics always warmed the family’s hearts.Jaxon’s legacy is one of resilience, love, and the unwavering bond he shared with his family. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to love him. Rest easy, Jax-man. The sun is shining just for you now.
