Our History

Hamilton-Niagara Veterinary Mobile Euthanasia Services is a family-owned and operated company comprised of a husband and wife team. The pair met while attending university pursuing their dreams to become veterinarians and haven't looked back since. Dr. Monique and Dr. Ronderson both worked in small animal practice since graduating and shared the same passion for end-of-life care. They realized that the in-clinic setting was often difficult to navigate as there was a wide range of care being provided, thus making it harder for their patients and clients who needed euthanasia services.

They viewed the end-of-life decision as the most important decision to be made and wondered how they could facilitate this process to provide the best experience for their clients and patients. They decided that home euthanasia was the best option because, at that point in time, pets have spent their entire lives with their owners, and these last moments should be peaceful, memorable, and take place in the comfort and privacy of their homes.

They took into consideration how the stress of transportation, as well as in-clinic wait time, new smells, and memories of negative experiences in the clinic affect patients, their owners, and the veterinary team. Also, family members who cannot make it to the clinic are often absent from this important last moment in which they can all reflect on positive experiences and memories with their beloved pet. Home euthanasia eliminates those factors by providing the service in an environment in which the pet is comfortable as well as the family.

Dr. Ronderson and Dr. Monique both decided to seek further understanding and guidance to become certified through expert training in the art of gentle euthanasia via The Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy(CAETA). This is a representation of their dedication to, and comprehension of advanced euthanasia techniques, caregiver needs, and preservation of the human-animal bond.

Both Dr. Monique and Dr. Ronderson are Fear Free Certified professionals, which enables the team to minimize signs of fear, anxiety, and stress which are common factors that result in negative experiences for both pets and clients. It is our aim to provide the best possible final moments for our patients and families in their time of need and to support them throughout the process.

Dr. Ronderson Ramjattan

Dr. Ronderson originated in the Caribbean from the beautiful twin isle of Trinidad and Tobago. From a very young age, Dr. Ronderson was particularly interested in sciences and Biology when it came to animals. From observing eggs in the trees in his backyard until they hatched as well as caring for his various types of pets, he had many animal care experiences from a very young age. His passion for veterinary medicine grew when his first dog, Princess, was infected with Parvovirus and appeared to be dying in front of him and feeling helpless until a veterinarian intervened and saved her life. At that point, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life. From that moment, on he became very inquisitive about all types of animals and what it took to care for them.

Dr. Ronderson graduated in 2015 from the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of the West Indies and did equivalency exams in the USA to be able to practice throughout North America. During his first two years of practice, he grew to understand the human-animal bond even stronger and learned how much a pet is an integral part of the family. Although a lot of practices cater to end-of-life procedures, he realized there was major room for growth to facilitate the process to make it more accomodating for families as well as the patient. His goal is to leave no animal in pain or distress and to provide the highest quality of care for his patients and clients. He hopes that his services will be valued as he continues to follow his passion.

Dr. Monique Goonraj

Dr. Monique Goonraj graduated with honors from the School of Veterinary Medicine, UWI, which is found in her native isle of Trinidad. From a very delicate age, she found the passion to care for animals by fostering kittens and puppies on a regular basis, which stemmed from her mother’s love for animals. Ever since she can remember, she had always been surrounded with a variety of pets from dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits to squirrels, chickens, and goats.

Growing up, this little girl felt a deep connection to all of those animals and the happiness that they brought her. It was especially difficult when they became ill and it was her aim to help them recover. Sometimes they didn’t, though, and early on, she became determined to do everything in her power to learn how to care for them and alleviate their pain. Over many years, Dr. Monique actively pursued a path that would lead her to fulfill her dreams of becoming a veterinarian.

Dr. Monique is honored to serve the Hamilton and Niagara Regions and provide outstanding service centered around preserving the human-animal bond. She is passionate about the most important decision owners make, which is end-of-life care, and is committed to being there to guide and support you when this time comes. Dr. Monique is looking forward to meeting, caring, and supporting her clients and their four-legged family members. She loves spending time with her husband who is also a veterinarian and co-founder of HNVMES and their feline fur baby Charlotte. She is fond of the outdoors and enjoys gardening, hiking, fishing and exploring the Canadian landscape in her free time.
