The Process
Planning and Preparation
The process begins the moment you call us or send an email about our services. Our veterinarian will discuss what’s going on with your pet, your thoughts, and your concerns and will take the time to answer any questions you may have. We understand that saying goodbye to a treasured companion is never easy and will do everything we can to provide you with the support you need.
If you choose to move forward, we will discuss any special requests you may have for the day of the appointment and do our best to accommodate them. We will also talk to you about aftercare arrangements and available options. If you would like to bury your pet at home, we will review the regulations with you to ensure that you are legally permitted to do so in your area. We will also discuss the costs associated with our services at this time.

The Day of Your Appointment
Upon arriving at your home, we will, again, discuss your concerns and answer any additional questions you may have. We will meet your beloved pet and take time to bond with them. If needed, we will also administer oral sedation to help calm them.
Before proceeding, we will assist you in finding a place in your home where you feel your pet will be comfortable. Once there, a sedation injection will be administered. This is typically painless but may feel similar to receiving a vaccination. The sedative takes 10 to 15 minutes to act and allows you and your family to spend some time with your pet during their final moments. During this time, we may also insert a catheter in a vein to provide access for the final step. If you would prefer to be left alone, we will give you some privacy while the sedative takes effect.
When the time comes, the euthanasia solution is administered. It acts quickly, and the veterinarian will let you know when your pet has passed. If you wish, you can have some private time with your pet at this time.
Based on your aftercare wishes, we will assist with the transportation of your companion’s body for cremation and facilitate the return of their ashes to you, if you choose private cremation. We use a Dignity bag when transporting our patients’ bodies to allow them to depart with dignity. You are welcome to place your pet's favorite treats, flowers or photos on paper stock for cremation if you so desire. Only organic items can be cremated at this time to help do our part to protect the environment. Our team will provide you with grief support materials to help you and your family cope with your loss. If desired, it would be our pleasure to honor your beloved companion on our website’s memorial page.
